GREEN - IT

Before i start with my first blog i would like to thank abhilash & lakshman srikanth who's inspired me to write this blog and literally forced me to attend this event.

It was the green it event organized by Wipro in the lush green campus of the Indian institute of science bangalore.

Well to start off i was an hour late to the event(college friends reading this would not be surprised),the
moment we entered IISC, it was a different world all together, the trees and the lush green gardens welcomed us.To our surprise the security was very mediocre with no one bothering to even check us.it was dissapointing though to see the security being so less for such a prestegious institution.

Green IT deals with the study and practice of using computing resources efficiently. The primary objective of such a program is to account for the triple bottom line, an expanded spectrum of values and criteria for measuring organizational (and societal) success. The goals are similar to green chemistry reduce the use of hazardous materials, maximize energy efficiency during the product's lifetime, and promote recyclability or biodegradability of defunct products and factory waste.

PROF CHANAKYA DURING HIS PRESENTATION

The session started off with Mr H.N.chanakya who is a professor in IISC presenting his thoughts. His presentation mainly dealt with using sustainable resources in villages in order to save our planet. He had many ideas on implementing biogas plants in rural areas, using the animal wastes to generate fuel.

After a fruitfull discussion with the audience the next speaker was Mr Monish from Wipro Technologies. His talk was very inspirational. He said that the passion is missing amoung the youth of this generation to save this planet. Some technologies that could be brought out into the market need not be marketable.During the discussion a gentlemen stood up and said "Lets come out of the time we spend on the internet half of our lives and start executing stuff that would change the environment".I liked his statement very much and i strongly urge the readers of this blog to follow it.Some of the ideas that were discussed during the entire session and some ideas which we ought to follow to save this environment are:

-usage of CFL bulbs which could cut the energy utilization.
-I strongly feel that people should opt for public transport instead of own vehicles
-usage of battery rechargeble vehicles like REVA car could be used
-employin geo-engg
-empty freezer takes 5% more electricity that the filled one...so better keep ur frezzer filled or switch off.!!!
-one guy said usage of laptops instead of destops could also help...the list is endless.its upto our thinking to make up out minds to save and protect this environment.

I WAS SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT A VILLAGE NEAR ANEKAL USES THE GREEN FARMING AND THE CONCEPT OF GREEN LIVING WHERE EACH AND EVERY ONE IS RESPONSIBLE TO SAVE THIS PLANET.
